Area

In the exam you may be asked to calculate the area of a large feature such as a wood or lake. You are usually given choices and have to tick the box that you think is the most likely area of the feature.

• Look carefully at how many grid squares the feature takes up.

• Each grid square has an area of 1 km2.

• Imagine adding part squares together to make whole squares.
